Eating in
Holidays are the time for enjoying and taking time over good food. We believe in buying locally sourced, fresh produce. Not only does this food taste better, but it also will support all those small, independent businesses that are at serious risk of dying out. North Devon would not be the same without some of these shops. Please help us to keep them alive!
Georgeham Village Stores right in the heart of our local village you will find Georgeham Stores. Run by Paul and Tracey, you will find many of your basic essentials from household goods through to bread, cheese, meat (including Georgeham free-range chicken), dry goods and a post office. The number there is 01271 890534.
Milks Up! This is an absolute must-visit for the freshest most delicious milk. Head to North Hole Farm on the way from Georgeham to Croyde to pick up fresh organic milk from their vending machine. Don’t forget to take the Blue milk bottle from your apartment. They also sell local veg, eggs, drinks and cheese in the room next to the vending machine and you can say hello to baby calves and goats in the barn.
Reeds - A good butcher in Braunton, they sell meat sourced from local west-country farms. Their homemade pies are delicious and great for just sticking in the oven after a day on the beach for a quick tasty meal. Their chutneys, pickles and spices are presented beautifully (they make great gifts) and they have a variety of flavours.
Cawthornes - Best put in the words of a review from the internet... 'From those hard to find ingredients to the best local strawberries money can buy. Cawthornes is old world charm and service meets more modern convenience items. As a veggie I'm seriously well catered for. You can pack the best picnic baskets from here with freshly baked breads, local cheeses, locally made quiches and pies, hummus, olives plus lots of fresh, local fruit and veg. I'm so glad this is my local store; who needs Tesco?'
This is a small, independent supermarket that stock as much local produce as they can and have a brilliant selection on gluten and dairy free supplies. 22 Caen Street, Braunton. EX33 1AA (01271 812053).
Failing those options, we do have a Co-op and a Tesco in Braunton (10 minutes away) and a big Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's in Barnstaple (25 minutes away).

Take away food
Sadly we don't get delivery of take away food but do take a look at our 'things to do' boards in both entrance halls or at our Eating In page on the website as there are lots of local street food vans who park up in the local villages - you then have the choice of eating by the beach or back here.
Eating out
Close to home, we are spoilt. Both pubs in Georgeham village are wonderful for different reasons.
The Rock Inn: For a great old Devon pub feel, we can recommend the 'Rock Inn'. Families are very welcome. The conservatory at the back of the pub offers a lovely bright feel to your dining experience. To book a table (recommended) call 01271 890322 or just pop in. Food is served 12 - 2 and 6 - 9 Monday - Saturday and all day from 12 on Sunday.
The Kings Arms: This pub is great for a cosy, relaxed environment to eat and drink in, to sit outside in the sunshine on the decking, watch a match or listen to live music. Opening hours for food are 12-2pm and 6-9pm Monday-Saturday and 12-7pm on Sunday.
Newcoast Kitchen: This lovely restaurant in Croyde owned by our friends Matt and Nicole is a must visit. We love their food, their personal service, their style and the way everything is so thoughtfully prepared. You are in for a treat here but make sure you book as there are limited tables and it is super popular.
Take a look at our ‘eating out’ page on the website for more suggestions.
Further afield
The Grampus Inn at Lee Bay: Great beer with their own micro-brewery and home cooked food. There is also a live folk band and open mike every Friday from 9.00pm or you may can catch them in rehearsals on Wednesday evening.
The Ship Aground at Mortehoe: After a headland walk on the coastal path or over the Stegosaurus Rocks, the Ship Aground does a great Sunday Carvery. Just the thing for tired legs.
For a more adventurous meal you must go to Barricane Beach, or 'shell' beach. It is a wonderful secluded cove in Woolacombe. In the evening the small beach cafe serves delicious homemade Sri-Lankan curries. Take a picnic rug & a bottle of wine (it's unlicensed) watch the sunset whilst enjoying a selection plate of authentic food. Turn up early (about 5/6pm) to put your order in. There are a few tables, but most people eat on the beach. Not open in bad weather, you can find them on facebook under 'Barricane Beach Cafe' to check they are open.
