Faith Groups
Pickwell Manor offers a gorgeous and welcoming coastal setting for church groups looking to spend meaningful time together. Set in six acres overlooking the Atlantic in North Devon, the manor provides space to gather, reflect, walk, pray, talk, and rest, away from the busyness of everyday life.
Why Groups Choose Pickwell Manor
Space to step back and reconnect and contemplate
Beautiful, welcoming coastal manor overlooking the North Devon Coast
Ideal for faith retreats, leadership retreats, study groups, walking groups, and times of shared reflection
Human, relaxed atmosphere that encourages open conversation and connection
Blend of shared spaces + private apartments for breakout time or quiet reflection
It’s well suited to church weekends away, leadership retreats, walking groups, study groups, and times of shared reflection, offering a gentle rhythm that allows people to take part as much or as little as they choose.
For overnight stays, groups have exclusive use of the main house -Affinity and Bliss apartments, together with the Ballroom and Snug. Grace and the Chapel apartments can be added if you need more bedrooms, allowing groups of up to 27 guests to stay comfortably (larger numbers are possible so please talk to us about your particular group). The layout works well for groups who want to come together regularly while still having private spaces for rest or quiet time.
The Ballroom is a large, light-filled space that can be used flexibly - for shared meals, group discussions, worship, study, or quiet reflection. Next door, the Snug provides a warm communal kitchen that naturally becomes a place for conversation throughout the day, you are welcome to cook for yourselves or we can help you with lovely catering options. The acoustics are also great if you wanted to sing. Evenings often end gathered around the fire, talking, listening, or simply enjoying being together.
The surrounding grounds, woodland, and nearby coast path offer opportunities for walking, contemplation, and time outdoors. Pickwell offers space, comfort, and a setting that naturally encourages connection, reflection, and community.
If helpful, we can support your stay with ideas such as guided walks, group well being or active water based activities, or we can simply leave you to shape your time in a way that suits your group’s needs.
“Pickwell is perfect for our annual long weekend away as a group of women who love to walk, talk, play crazy games and cook for ourselves. The beautiful and spacious apartments give us affordable luxury, with lots of extras and flexibility, as well as a versatile and well equipped communal area. We have already booked for 36 of us for next year…..our 6th consecutive autumn break”. Vicky Autumn , 2025 Guest.
